Why we think Will Ferrell is a Type 7

  • Demeanor. Ferrell usually appears jovial with a high-energy vibe. He frequently showcases his wit and sense of humor, often injecting his responses with elements of his comedic persona.

  • Avoidance of pain and negativity. In interviews, Ferrell often keeps things light and humorous, even when discussing more serious topics. In a 2018 interview with The New York Times, Ferrell discussed a car accident he had been involved in. While he acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, he shared the experience with a lot of humor. Ferrell's comedy often contains an underlying theme of positivity and the ability to find humor and joy in any situation.

  • Spontaneity. Ferrell has demonstrated his spontaneity in his improvisational comedy, both in films, and live acting, and in his time on Saturday Night Live. In his famous "More Cowbell" sketch, Ferrell fully embodies the idea of a spontaneous, live-for-the-moment character who jumps into a situation with no hesitation. In his Broadway show, You're Welcome America, despite the fact that this is rarely done, he would often go off script and interact with the audience, adding an unpredictable edge to each performance.

  • Comedic variety. Ferrell is capable of switching effortlessly between the absurd and the serious, which is part of his appeal as an actor. He also has a knack for physical comedy and isn't afraid to use his entire body to sell a joke.

  • Desire for fun and adventure. Ferrell's choice of roles often involves fun, adventurous, and outrageous characters. From Buddy in Elf to Ron Burgundy in Anchorman, Ferrell displays a zest for life and a sense of fun.

Will Ferrell quotes that show he is a Type 7

  • "I always just forced myself to do crazy things in public. In college, I would push an overhead projector across campus with my pants just low enough to show my butt."

  • "I have only been funny about seventy-four percent of the time. Yes, I think that is right. Seventy-four percent of the time."

  • "I think anyone who…you know, is in any sort of artistic pursuit, kind of goes up and down with the way they feel about their work. And I, for the most part, am a pretty happy person. But, yeah. I go through definite periods of time where I'm not funny. I'm not good…– I don't feel original."

  • “All you have in comedy, in general, is just going with your instincts. You can only hope that other people think that what you think is funny is funny. I don’t have an answer but I just try to plough straight ahead.”

  • “In the fourth grade, I learned how to fake walking into a door. You know, you hit it with your hand and snap your head back. The girls loved it.”

  • "I've got no dark secrets, I wasn't beaten up, my parents were kind to me and there was a low crime rate where we lived. Maybe that's where the comedy comes from, as some sort of reaction to the safe, boring suburbs."

  • "Before you marry a person, you should first make them use a computer with slow Internet service to see who they really are."

  • “I've always wanted to sail around the world in a handmade boat, and I built a boat.”
